About the UAA Undergraduate Research Project Management System
The Undergraduate Research Project Management System was developed by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship in conjunction with the Task Force on Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.
The system is a public, online database of faculty research projects that involve undergraduates as part of the research team. It is intended both to inform students, colleagues, and the community about UAA's undergraduate research projects, and to build support for more initiatives in this area.
The initial database was populated with grants awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship together with research projects reported by faculty that completed a survey in Spring of 2008.
For the Public
UAA faculty and undergraduate students are engaged in a diverse number of research projects. You may browse research projects by clicking the links on the menu to the left. The projects may be browsed by discipline, keyword, date, department, title, student, or faculty.
For Faculty Researchers
You can use this site to share your research interests and promote your research projects. In addition to posting basic project information such as an abstract and title, you can also share the results of your research by attaching electronic documents such as papers and presentations. Projects can also be tagged as "Seeking Researchers" if you would like to recruit students to assist with your work.
Any UAA faculty member can participate by logging in with your UAA username and password. Once you have logged in you can create a new project and assign students or other co-PI's to your project. Only faculty may create projects or edit certain fields, such as the usernames of other investigators. Both faculty and students can update basic project information and post attachments. For tips on mentoring undergraduate students in research please see the Faculty Mentoring Manual.
We hope that you will participate in this system; our goal is to have a complete listing of all undergraduate research projects online every year and to keep building this database as we add new and exciting work on our campus.
For Student Researchers
If you are working on a research project with a UAA faculty member, please encourage your faculty mentor to create a project on this site and add you as a co-investigator. Once the project is created you will be able to update the project's page. More importantly, you will be able to showcase your research with other students, faculty, and the general public. If you are interested in working on a research project, click on 'Seeking Researchers' to see projects for which student assistance is requested.
This site is still under development and we plan to add several new features. If you have any questions or wish to provide feedback about the site, you can contact Kenrick Mock, email@example.com, 786-1956.
Thank you for your participation!
